Commitment to the Company

When you are accepted as a Dancing Member of the Chelmsford Ballet Company, you are offered various opportunities:
to attend the monthly class
to attend workshops
to audition for the annual Show.
We always welcome as many dancers as possible to the monthly class and to workshops, but appreciate that other commitments, work, holidays, and school work may prohibit attendance every time for every event. No event is compulsory.
However, if you decide to audition for and are cast in the Annual Show, it is expected that you will be available for every rehearsal and that by auditioning you are agreeing to be able to attend every Sunday for the months that we rehearse, regardless of the role in which you are cast, and of course to every performance of the production during show week. By auditioning you are also agreeing to commit in full to the part that you are given and that you will not pull out of the show after casting is finalised, unless in extreme circumstances.
You will appreciate that a lot of work goes into the production of the show, especially as the Company’s performances are produced to the highest and most professional standards. The Artistic Director also works hard at the auditions and puts a lot of effort into making sure that the right people are cast in each role, so that every dancer is given the opportunity to showcase his or her talent on the stage to the fullest extent.
The calendar of events is always available on the Company website and includes the dates of all rehearsals, including COMPULSORY rehearsals, and these dates will be available to check before the audition forms are put up. If you have any doubts about your ability to commit to the show please speak to the Artistic Director or a member of the Committee before you fill out the casting audition form.
