Company Classes – 3rd June

We are very pleased to welcome Denise Roberts back as our Guest teacher for this coming Sunday.

Denise’s early dance training was at the Miss Catherine Blellock School of Ballet in Westcliff and Ruth French in Chelsea. She gained a place at Bush Davies where she trained for 3 years. She toured England with “Ballet for All” directors John Field and Kerrison Cooke. In 1980 Denise danced with Dublin City Ballet where she was chosen by Sir Anton Dolin and John Gilpin to dance Giselle and Queen of the Willis. After leaving Ireland Denise joined British Ballet Theatre in London under Director Janet Lewis, where she danced many lead roles including, Sugar Plum Fairy, Swanhilda, Giselle, Queen of the Willis, as well as performing in several modern ballets. She returned to Ireland and danced with the Irish National Ballet for 8 years; her roles included Black Swan, Paquita, Beauty and the Beast, Pie Jesu, and several Ballets with Domy Reiter Sofer, House of Bernada Alba, La Valse, In the Mood Glen Miller Ballet. She returned to Westcliff-on-Sea to open her own Dance School in 1990 and has been teaching ever since. She was a guest teacher with the Chelmsford Ballet Company in 1993 and choreographed The Nutcracker for them. She has been a Guest Teacher for the Ceccheti Society in London on several occasions over the last two years

The junior class is held at 9.30am to 10.45am and is suitable from age 10 years for dancers working at grade 2 to pre-elementary.

The senior class is held at 11.00am to 12.30pm Dancers are expected to be working at elementary, intermediate foundation level or above. The class might include pointe work: cost is £5 for dancing and associate members, £6 for guests.
