Brighid Buchanan-Wollaston

It is with sadness that we report the death of Brighid Buchanan-Wollaston on the 10th November at the age of 84. Brighid became Artistic Director of The Company on the retirement of our founder, Joan Weston, in 1969. She was the sister of the much loved, renowned choreographer and Honorary Life Member, Elizabeth Twistington-Higgins whose promising career as a ballet dancer was cut short by Polio. Under Brighid’s tenure as Artistic Director Elizabeth taught the “Pas de Quatre” for the 1970 production from her wheelchair. Brighid strengthened and built on the high reputation that The Company enjoyed, assuring it of a successful future.
